Oil Painting Notes

OIL PAINTING NOTES  from New York trip
S.Rude, 2012

1.  Use thicker paint on your works.

2.  If something doesn't stand out as being off, no need to change it.

3.  Begin working in soft masses and bring out form selectively, if even needed.

4.  Mere silhouettes of color and form can work just fine, with slight value shifts to make it dimensional.

5.  Often, just a few colors are needed in a painting.  Just a slight variation of  those main colors in the head and hands or other areas can provide a finished look.
