Three Stooges Drew Struzan Study

Steve loves studying the greats, and this one is a nod to Drew Struzan's painting of the Three Stooges. Steve zoomed in on Moe in his floppy white cap and worked out that wide-eyed, mid-shout face in warm watercolor with bright white highlights on top. Struzan's original is in the photos so you can compare.

Look close and you'll spot Steve's own note in the top corner about how bumpy the paper was and how he'd have to work with that texture. It's a real peek at him figuring things out on the page.

Bonus on the back: flip it over for a second watercolor study, a woman's face with dark, piled-up hair, plus four blue wash tests, a couple with light streaks running through them.

• Original study by Steve Rude, after Drew Struzan
• Double-sided: Moe study on the front, portrait study and wash tests on the back
• Size: 7x10 inches (horizontal)
• Medium: Watercolor on watercolor paper
• One of a kind
